WASHINGTON — The latest version of the Stryker, the Stryker ICVVA1, begins testing very soon. The US Army received the first anti-armour vehicle. Stryker is an eight-wheeled armored fighting vehicle. The tests are to take place in Aberdeen [ATC] in Maryland.
The manufacturer of the Stryker ICVVA1 – Oshkosh Defense equipped the new anti-armour vehicle with a 30 mm medium caliber weapon system [MCWS]. It is integrated with the SAMSON tower of Rafael – an Israeli defense company. If production tests are successful in the coming weeks, the 30mm MCWS will be incorporated into the I-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team. [SBCT] piercing vehicles.
A total of seven upgraded Stryker systems are to be delivered by the end of September this year. A year ago, the Pentagon invested in their production for nearly 942 million USD. Oshkosh Defense is the main manufacturer and project manager, but Pratt Miller Defense and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems are also involved.
Precision and deadly MCWS
Army-Technology writes that the tests will take place throughout June 2023. After that, the introduction of the Stryker ICVVA1 into the US Army inventory began.
The Stryker ICVVA1 is a precision, lethal and transformative solution, says Oshkosh Defense. “We look forward to equipping our soldiers,” said Pat Williams, vice president of Oshkosh and general manager of defense programs for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. Williams pointed out the “deep commitment” the company made to meet the needs of not only the US military, but also foreign customers. He praised the company’s team and technological capabilities.
There is logic in Williams’ words since the company was sought out to upgrade the Stryker. According to official data, 269 upgrades have been performed by Oshkosh Defense on the Stryker. Finally, the US government enlists the help of the company’s engineering team. BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that last April the company and the army signed an agreement on scientific research and technical cooperation. Both parties to the agreement will seek new developments in the field to improve the US military’s weapons capabilities, efficiency and combat capability.
