US Army Band Playing Indian National Anthem Resurfaces On Social Media

Hyderabad: A 2019 video of the US military playing the Indian national anthem has resurfaced on social media. The US Army band was performing ‘Jana Gana Mana’ during Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2019 at Joint Base Lewis, McChord, according to ANI news agency.

Yudh Abhyas took place from September 5 to 18, 2019 in Washington, with the US Army playing the Indian National Anthem on the final day. The exercise was one of the largest joint military training and defense cooperation efforts between India and the United States.

In the video, US soldiers were seen playing the Indian national anthem on their trumpets for their Indian counterparts as part of their final day exercise.

The video also got a lot of attention in 2020 when many people mistakenly claimed the video was from the “Howdy, Modi” event held in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Houston, Texas.

The post received over 28,100 likes and 7,300 retweets with a positive response from many Indians. “It’s a surreal feeling to hear another band perform our national anthem (sic),” one user commented.

While the author, Tarek Fatah tweeted “US Army Group is hitting Indian National Army. Not bad (sic).

“So happy to listen to the US Army Band play our #RashtraGeet #JanaGanaMana,” another user said.
