Army veteran William C. Bassi of Cranston dies aged 78

William C. Bassi, of Cranston, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at RI Hospital in Providence.

Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of the late Frank and Anna (Raviele) Bassi.

Bill was the owner of Bassi Associates. He was a Magna cum laude graduate of classical high school and graduated from URI where he obtained his diploma and master’s degree in electrical engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Army in Vietnam and a member of the No. 8 Italian-American Veterans’ Post at Cranston. Bill enjoyed golf, biking, fishing, gardening, playing pool and cooking Italian specialties.

He was the dear brother of Elena M. Ciccone and her husband, State Senator Frank A. Ciccone, III of Providence, Maria Bassi-Lauro of FL, and the late Frederick V. Bassi; loving companion of Janet Bailey of Johnston; beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral at Nardolillo Funeral and Crematorium, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 10 a.m., followed by Christian funeral mass at St. Bartholomew Church, 305 Laurel Hill Ave., Providence at 11 a.m.

Interment with military honors will be held in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.

Visiting hours are Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Masks are compulsory.
