To help its military-affiliated students overcome these challenges, American Military University (AMU) is partnering with 50strong. As AMU is the premier provider of higher education for the U.S. military and veterans,* the relationship with 50strong goes hand in hand.

50strong collaborates with military-ready employers and higher education partners such as AMU to identify opportunities that support large-scale resources and exposure to private sector employers. 50strong offers virtual engagement opportunities that present military recruiters with strong opportunities combined with veteran-specific information on navigating a career search after active duty. Since becoming an educational partner of 50 strong in April 2021AMU has engaged with several thousand students and alumni through the services of 50strong.

“I am beyond appreciative of AMU’s efforts for the career outcomes of those they educate every day, because higher education is a pathway to solid employment,” said the 50strong co-founder. Kandi Tilman. “Because I see so many amazing companies with strong initiatives that military-affiliated students simply aren’t aware of, we want to help facilitate those connections. We believe career services teams at academic institutions ready for the army like AMU are essential for that.”

“Helping connect our students with potential future career opportunities is a key priority for Career Services,” said Christine Muncy, associate vice president of career services at the American Public University System, of which AMU is a part. “By combining the service provided by 50strong with AMU’s personalized support, resources and coaching for CV writing, we offer our students a great way to connect with employers who focus on recruitment initiatives. veterans.”

50strong operates EmployerConnect for all military members, veterans, and spouses, with a focus on military-affiliated students. He also operates 50strong SkillBridgeConnect, which specifically supports industry activation of the DoD SkillBridge, a Department of Defense (DoD) program that connects transitioning military members to non-military organizations that provide training or internships with a possibility of further employment. Given AMU’s large working student population, SkillBridgeConnect has been a particularly important collaboration.

“Amazon takes hiring military talent seriously. With our scale and pace of expanding opportunities, we are always looking to engage with new talent pipelines. Working with organizations like 50strong and the American Military University is critical to our ability to interact with students,” said Beau Higgins of Amazon Global Military Affairs, a founding sponsor of 50.

“Military service members and veterans already represent a clear talent advantage for companies. Add the college education to their military experience and they are arguably one of the best competitive talent pools we can recruit from. It’s imperative for businesses that we find new ones and 50strong and its partners like American Military University represent a knowledge alliance that creates game-changing opportunities for veterans and employers,” said Matt Discherwho runs Military Initiatives for Cushman & Wakefield, another contributor to 50 Employers.
